Trois Crayon Portraits

Charcoal, sanguine and sepia chalk together, a push and pull of tone into and out of the page. Simple, but it gives a lot of warmth and delicacy.

Oil Painted Portraits

My first love. A slower, layered process, built up over several sessions, influenced by the Realists and their commitment to observation.

Hand-Painted Pet Portraits

The same hand-painted, layered oil technique, turned toward the animals people love most. I paint bespoke pet portraits from your own photograph, dogs, cats, horses, birds and other much-loved pets, aiming to capture personality and expression, not just a likeness.

Common Questions

How much does a commission cost?
Trois crayon portraits start at £50 (A5) and £100 (A4). Oil painted portraits start at £100 (A5) and £175 (A4). Pet portraits start at £100 (A5) and £175 (A4). Larger sizes or multiple subjects available on request.

How long does it take?
Usually around two weeks from when I receive your photo, and I keep close to that. If you’re up against a tighter deadline, just mention it when you get in touch and I’ll let you know honestly whether it’s doable.

What photo should I send?
Clear, well lit, and reasonably high resolution. If it’s too dark or blurry I’ll ask for another before starting, since the piece can only be as good as the reference.

Can I commission a pet?
Yes, see Pet Portrait Commission for pricing. More than one pet, or a pet alongside a person, usually needs a custom quote rather than the standard price.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes. I post within the UK as standard and can arrange international shipping on request.

Want to commission your own? Upload your reference photo on the product page, then check out, it only takes a minute, and I’ll follow up by email to confirm details. Framed drawings from £50, oil paintings from £100, pet portraits from £100. Turnaround is usually around two weeks, and if you’re up against a tighter deadline, just let me know and I’ll be honest with you about what’s possible.
